Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 c flour
1 t baking powder
1/4 t salt
8 T unsalted butter
3 oz unsweetened chocolate
2 eggs
1/2 c light brown sugar
1/2 c sugar
1 t vanilla
1/2 c sour cream
1 c semiweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt. In a  medium saucepan, melt the butter. Add the unsweetened chocolate and melt. Whisk smooth and set aside. Crack eggs into a large mixing bowl and whisk till combined. Whisk in brown sugar, sugar and vanilla. Add chocolate mixture. Fold in half the flour mixture, then the sour cream and the remaining flour mixture. Fold in chocolate chips. Drop large teaspoonfuls of dough 2 - 3" apart on prepared pans. Bake 10 - 12 minutes or till they rise and are firm. Slide papers with cookies onto cooling racks. Store between wax paper in an air-tight container.

These cookies remind me of a cookie that I had from an Italian bakery when I was young. The original recipe adds chocolate glaze, but I prefer them without the glaze. Sometimes I sprinkle confectioner's sugar on them. This is an adapted Nick Malgieri recipe from Cookies Unlimited.
